The company operates in four segments: Excess and Surplus Lines, Commercial Specialty, Reinsurance, and International Specialty. The Excess and Surplus Lines segment offers commercial liability, commercial property, and products liability coverage to restaurants, artisan contractors, and manufacturers; general liability and excess/umbrella coverage; and professional lines coverage, including allied medical, errors and omissions, and environmental. The Commercial Specialty segment provides property insurance, liability insurance, and workers compensation coverage in food and hospitality, religious and other institutions, and specialty retail markets; and general liability, umbrella liability, property, commercial automobile, and surety business for its mining accounts. The Reinsurance segment covers claims arising from catastrophes around the world, such as hurricanes, windstorms, hailstorms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, fires, industrial explosions, freezes, riots, floods, and other man-made or natural disasters. The International Specialty segment underwrites property and non U.S. liability insurance on behalf of underwriting syndicates. The company was founded in 1986 and is based in Pembroke, Bermuda.
