China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited and its subsidiaries provide passenger, cargo, mail delivery, and other transportation services. The company also offers ground services; flight training services; cargo logistics services; hotel services primarily to the crew members; aircraft repair and maintenance services; ticket sales and logistics services; airline equipment sales; marketing services; and airlines consultation services. As of December 31, 2008, the company operated a fleet of 240 aircrafts, including 214 passenger jets and 11 jet freighters. It operated approximately 423 passenger routes comprising 332 domestic routes, 75 international routes, and 16 Hong Kong and Macao routes, serving approximately 134 domestic and foreign cities; and 16 cargo routes, including 14 international routes, and 1 Hong Kong and 1 Macao route, as well as 5 passenger routes and 1 cargo route in its charter flights between mainland China and Taiwan. The company was founded in 1988 and is based in Shanghai, the People's Republic of China. China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited is a subsidiary of China Eastern Air Holding Company.
