Digital Angel Corporation develops identification and security products for consumer, commercial, and government sectors worldwide. The company operates through two segments, Animal Identification and Emergency Identification. The Animal Identification segment develops, manufactures, and markets visual and electronic identification tags and implantable radio frequency identification systems microchips primarily for the identification, tracking, and location of companion pets, horses, livestock, fish, and wildlife, as well as for animal bio-sensing applications. The Emergency Identification segment offers global positioning systems enabled search and rescue equipment, and intelligent communications products and services for telemetry, mobile data, and radio communications applications, under the SARBE and McMurdo brands; and alarm sounders for industrial use and other electronic components. The company was formerly known as Applied Digital Solutions, Inc. and changed its name to Digital Angel Corporation in June 2008. Digital Angel Corporation was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in South Saint Paul, Minnesota.
