EMCORE Corporation provides compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the broadband, fiber optic, satellite, and terrestrial solar power markets. The company's Fiber Optics segment offers optical components, subsystems, and systems that enable the transmission of video, voice, and data over fiber optic cables for high-speed data and telecommunications, cable television, and fiber-to-the-premises networks. EMCORE Corporation's Solar Power segment provides solar products for satellite applications, including compound semiconductor-based gallium arsenide solar cells, covered interconnect cells, and integrated solar panels; and terrestrial applications, such as concentrating photovoltaic systems (CPV) for utility scale solar applications, gallium arsenide solar cells, and CPV components for use in solar power concentrator systems. It sells its products worldwide through direct sales force, external sales representatives, distributors, and application engineers. The company was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
