The company operates in three segments: Automotive, Consumer, and Professional. The Automotive segment designs, manufactures, and markets audio, electronic, and infotainment systems for vehicle applications primarily to be installed as original equipment by automotive manufacturers. This segment offers its products under JBL, Infinity, Harman/Kardon, Becker, Logic 7, and Mark Levinson brand names. The Consumer segment engages in the design, manufacture, and marketing of audio and electronic systems for home, mobile, and multimedia applications. This segment offers its products under JBL, Infinity, Harman/Kardon, Lexicon, Mark Levinson, Revel, and AKG brand names through audio/video specialty and retail chain stores. The Professional segment designs, manufactures, and markets loudspeakers and electronic systems used by audio professionals in concert halls, stadiums, airports, and other buildings, as well as for recording, broadcast, cinema, and music reproduction applications. It also provides products to the sound reinforcement, music instrument support, and broadcast and recording segments of the professional audio market. In addition, Professional segment offers systems solutions for professional installations and users. This segment markets its products under the JBL Professional, AKG, Crown, Soundcraft, Lexicon, DigiTech, dbx, and Studer brand names. The company was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.
