The company's bar code scanning products include fixed, mobile, vehicle-mounted laser scanners, and linear and area imagers that collect and decode bar codes, and transmit to the enterprise resource planning systems, warehouse management systems, order fulfillment, transportation, logistics systems, and other business intelligence applications. Its printer and label media products consist of wired and wireless barcode and radio frequency identification (RFID) printers; pressure-sensitive bar code labels and thermal transfer ribbons; and specialized labels for clean rooms, chemical baths, and high humidity environments. The company's RFID products comprise RFID tags, readers, software, and related equipment to track pallets, cartons, containers, and individual items. The company also offers various services, including design, implementation, and deployment of AIDC systems for clients; and technical support and repair services, as well as provides education services comprising AIDC training services. Intermec sells its products for various field mobility and in-premise applications, such as asset visibility and management; direct store delivery; maintenance, repair, and overhaul; in-transit visibility; and routing and navigation. It markets its products through direct sales and service organizations, two-tier distributors, and resellers, as well as through independent hardware, software, and service vendors. The company was formerly known as UNOVA, Inc. Intermec was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Everett, Washington.
