IRSA Investments and Representations, Inc., through its subsidiaries and joint ventures, engages in a range of diversified real estate related activities in Argentina. Its activities include the acquisition, development, and operation of shopping centers, as well as office and other non-shopping center properties primarily for rental purposes; the origination of consumer loans and the securitization of corresponding receivables; the acquisition and development of residential properties and undeveloped land reserves for future development and sale; and the acquisition and operation of luxury hotels. As of June 30, 2008, IRSA owned and operated interests in 10 shopping centers, of which 5 were located in the City of Buenos Aires, 1 in Buenos Aires metropolitan area, and the other 4 of which were located in the Provinces of Mendoza, Rosario, Cordoba, and Salta; 28 offices and other non-shopping center leased properties; and 3 hotels. The company was founded in 1943 and is headquartered in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
