It also offers equity portfolio analytics products, such as The Barra Aegis System, an equity risk management and analytics system; and Equity Models Direct that delivers proprietary risk data to clients for integration into their own software applications. In addition, MSCI provides multi-asset class portfolio analytics products, which comprise The BarraOne System and The Barra TotalRisk System. Further, the company offers various other products, such as energy and commodity asset valuation analytics for investors, traders, and those hedging investments in these asset classes, and fixed income portfolio analytics products to facilitate the investment processes of fixed income investors. Its products are used in various areas of the investment process, including portfolio construction and optimization, performance benchmarking and attribution, risk management and analysis, index-linked investment product creation, asset allocation, investment manager selection, and investment research. MSCI serves asset owners, such as pension funds, endowments, foundations, central banks, and insurance companies; institutional and retail asset managers, including managers of pension assets, mutual funds, exchange traded funds, hedge funds, and private wealth; and financial intermediaries comprising broker-dealers, exchanges, custodians, and investment consultants worldwide. The company was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in New York, New York.
