It invests primarily in real estate-related assets, including residential adjustable rate mortgage-backed securities issued by a government-sponsored enterprise of the United States; prime credit quality residential adjustable-rate mortgage loans; and non-agency mortgage-backed securities. The company has elected to be taxed as a REIT under the Internal Revenue Code and would not be subject to federal income tax to the extent that it distributes at least 90% of its REIT taxable income to stockholders. It has a strategic relationship with JMP Group Inc. The company was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in New York, New York.
