The company also develops an ocular product for use following invasive retinal procedures to prevent the development of endophthalmitis, a complication that leads to blindness and loss of the affected eye. In addition, Opko Health offers a line of ophthalmic diagnostic and imaging systems, and instrumentation products to eye care practitioners, including retinal and glaucoma specialists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, retail optometry chain outlets, teaching institutions, and military hospitals in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. It has strategic alliances with the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Illinois, the University of Florida Research Foundation, Winston Laboratories, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Theta Research Consultants, and Redox Pharmaceuticals. The company was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Miami, Florida.
