Pharmacyclics, Inc., a development stage pharmaceutical company, focuses on developing drugs to treat cancer and other diseases. The company's product candidate, motexafin gadolinium, an anti-cancer agent with a novel mechanism of action, has completed Phase III trials in patients with brain metastases from non-small-cell lung cancer, and is in Phase II trials in patients with primary brain tumors. Its products also include PCI-24781, a histone deacetylase inhibitor in Phase I trial in patients with advanced relapsed solid tumors and is in Phase II trial in patients with recurrent lymphomas; PCI-24783, a preclinical stage small molecule inhibitor of Factor VIIa for cancer therapy; and PCI-32765, a preclinical stage small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor to treat B cell malignancies and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and multiple sclerosis. Pharmacyclics has a license agreement with the University of Texas to develop and commercialize porphyrins, expanded porphyrins, and other porphyrin-like substances. It also has a strategic alliance agreement with Les Laboratoires Servier SAS. The company was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California.
