Parker Drilling Company, together with its subsidiaries, provides land and offshore contract drilling and drilling-related services to oil and gas companies in the United States and internationally. As of December 31, 2008, its fleet of rigs consisted of 9 land rigs in the Commonwealth of Independent States; 8 land rigs in the Asia Pacific region; 9 land rigs in Latin America; 1 barge drilling rig in the inland waters of Mexico; 2 land rigs in the Africa/Middle East region; 1 arctic-class barge rig in the Caspian Sea; 15 barge drilling and work over rigs in the transition zones of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico; and 1 land rig in New Iberia. The company also provides non-capital intensive services, such as front end engineering and design; engineering, procurement, construction, and installation services; and project management services, including labor, maintenance, and logistics for operators who own their own drilling rigs. In addition, Parker Drilling Company provides premium rental tools for land and offshore oil and gas drilling and work over activities. Its rental tools include a line of drill pipe, drill collars, tubing, high and low- pressure blowout preventers, choke manifolds, junk and cement mills, and casing scrapers. The company was founded in 1934 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
