Powell Industries, Inc. engages in the development, design, manufacture, and servicing of equipment and systems for the management and control of electrical energy and other critical processes in the United States and internationally. The company operates through two segments: Electrical Power Products and Process Control Systems. The Electrical Power Products segment offers engineered-to-order electrical power distribution and control systems designed to distribute, monitor, and control the flow of electrical energy, as well as to provide protection to motors, transformers, and other electrically-powered equipment. Its products include power control room packages, distribution switchgears, offshore modules, motor control centers, and bus duct systems used in the transportation, industrial, and utility markets. This segment's customers include oil and gas producers; operators of oil and gas pipelines, refineries, petrochemical plants, and electrical power generators; public and private utilities; operators of co-generation facilities; and mining/metals companies, pulp and paper plants operators, transportation systems operators, and governmental agencies. The Process Control Systems segment designs and delivers technology solutions that help customers to manage their transportation, environmental, energy, industrial, and utility facilities. It provides professional services that specialize in the design, integration, and support of control, security/surveillance, and communications systems. This segment sells its products and services to end-users in the transportation, environmental, energy, and industrial sectors. Powell Industries, Inc. was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas with an additional office in Houston, Texas.
