The company provides bulk transportation of a range of liquid and dry chemical products; tank wash facilities; ISO tank transportation services; tank cleaning, heating, testing, maintenance, and storage services; transloading services; and other value-added services, as well as leases and sells intermodal shipping containers, tank containers, and special equipment or custom containers. Its bulk service network consists of company operated terminals, independently owned third-party affiliate terminals, and independent owner-operator drivers. As of December 31, 2008, the company managed a fleet of approximately 3,200 tractors and 7,200 tank trailers. It also operated a network of 108 trucking terminals, 33 tank wash facilities, and 8 ISO depot services terminals. The company was formerly known as MTL, Inc. and changed its name to Quality Distribution, Inc. in 1999. Quality Distribution, Inc. was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
