Its video services include basic and expanded basic package comprising local broadcast television stations, local community programming, and limited satellite-delivered or non-broadcast channels; enhanced digital services; movie and entertainment channels; high-definition television; video on demand and subscription video on demand; digital video recorder; and pay-per-view services. The company also operates a video production studio that produces sports, news, and entertainment programs, as well as provides bulk video services to hotels, hospitals, universities, and other organizations. In addition, it offers high-speed data services comprising Internet access, email and Web mail, Internet security services, and other Web-based services. Further, RCN Corporation provides voice services, including local, long distance, and international voice telephone services with various features, such as voicemail, caller identification, call waiting, call forwarding, three-way calling, 911 access, operator services, and directory assistance. Additionally, it provides commercial services comprising metro and intercity SONET and Ethernet-based transport services, co-location services, and high speed Internet access services, as well as commercial transport products and services to large enterprise and carrier customers. As of December 31, 2008, the company provided its services through direct sales representatives, customer care representatives, and its e-commerce platform to approximately 428,000 residential and small business customers in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, New York City, Boston, and Chicago. RCN Corporation was founded in 1997 and is based in Herndon, Virginia.
