The company also offers measuring tools and precision instruments, such as micrometers, steel rules, combination squares, and other items for the individual craftsman and other markets; precision instruments, including vernier calipers, height gages, depth gages and measuring instruments that manufacturing companies buy for the use of their employees; and precision video-based metrology, specialty motion devices, and custom engineered systems for measurement and inspection. It offers dial indicators, gage blocks, granite surface plates, vision systems, optical measuring projectors, tape measures, levels, chalk products, squares, band saw blades, hole saws, hacksaw blades, jig saw blades, reciprocating saw blades, M1® lubricant, and precision ground flat stock and drill rod. The company also provides data collection solutions. The L.S. Starrett Company markets its products through distributors primarily to companies in the metalworking industry; automotive, aviation, marine, and farm equipment shops; and do-it-yourselfers and tradesmen, such as builders, carpenters, plumbers, and electricians. The company was founded in 1880 and is based in Athol, Massachusetts.
