The company's products also comprise commercial signage and advertising displays; automotive lighting; RGB and white backlighting for LCD TVs, displays and monitors, and notebook screens; general illumination; and proprietary custom HV ICs. Its products are primarily used in or with medical ultrasound instruments, medical electronics, large commercial ink jet printers, light emitting diodes for general lighting, flat panel displays, automatic test equipment, EL lamps for applications in cell phone keypads and hand-held devices, and optical MEMS for telecommunication and data communication markets. The company also provides custom processing services for the manufacture of ICs, using customer-owned designs and mask tooling. It markets and sells its products through direct sales personnel, independent sales representatives, and distributors primarily to original equipment manufacturers of electronic products in the United States and internationally. Supertex, Inc. was founded in 1975 and is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California.
