Its technical pumping services include stimulation services, such as fracturing and acidizing, which are designed to improve the flow of oil and natural gas from producing zones; nitrogen services, which use nitrogen gas to stimulate wellbores; and cementing services that comprise blending of cement and water with various solid and liquid additives to create a cement slurry. The company also provides various completion and production services consisting of plugging and abandonment, and roustabout services, as well as the sale and rental of equipment. Its down-hole surveying services comprise logging services that involve the gathering of down-hole information to identify various characteristics of the down-hole rock formations, casing cement bond, and mechanical integrity; perforating services as the initial step of stimulation by lowering specialized tools and perforating guns into a well bore by wire-line; and logistics services for fluids involved in the drilling, development, and production of hydrocarbons. In addition, the company sells casing attachments, such as baffle plates, centralizers, float shoes, guide shoes, formation packer shoes, rubber plugs, and wooden plugs. It serves regional, independent oil and natural gas companies in the Appalachian, Mid-Continent, Rocky Mountain, and southeast and southwest regions of the United States. The company operates service centers in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, Michigan, Arkansas, Utah, Texas, Virginia, New Mexico, Louisiana, Ohio, Kansas, North Dakota, Colorado, and Wyoming. As of December 31, 2008, Superior Well Services, Inc. owned a fleet of 1,628 commercial vehicles and 116 logging and perforating trucks and cranes. The company was founded in 1997 and is based in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
