As of May 22, 2009, it owned and operated a fleet of 12 double-hull handymax tankers with a total carrying capacity of approximately 0.6 million dead weight tons (dwt); and a fleet of 5 drybulk vessels with a total carrying capacity of approximately 0.3 million dwt. The company was formerly known as Top Tankers Inc. and changed its name to Top Ships Inc. in December 2007. Top Ships Inc. was founded in 2000 and is based in Athens, Greece.
