In addition, it provides natural gas service in southeastern New Hampshire and portions of southern and central Maine, including the city of Portland and the Lewiston-Auburn area. Further, Unitil Corporation operates 87 miles of underground gas transmission pipeline primarily located in Maine and New Hampshire. As of December 31, 2008, the company served approximately 100,300 electric customers and 69,300 natural gas customers. Additionally, it provides energy brokering and advisory services to commercial and industrial customers in the northeastern United States. The company was incorporated in 1984 and is headquartered in Hampton, New Hampshire.
