Volt Information Sciences Inc. provides staffing services, and telecommunications and information solutions primarily in the United States and Europe. It operates in four segments: Staffing Services, Telecommunications Services, Computer Systems, and Printing and Other. The Staffing Services segment provides a range of employee staffing services comprising staffing solutions, including managed staffing, temporary/contract personnel employment, and workforce solutions; e-procurement solutions, such as bid human capital acquisition and management solutions, including Web-based tools and business process outsourcing services; and information technology (IT) solutions comprising consulting, outsourcing, and turnkey project management in the software and hardware development, IT infrastructure services, and customer contact markets. The Telecommunications Services segment provides telecommunications and other infrastructure services, including the design, engineering, construction, installation, maintenance, and removal of telecommunications equipment for the outside plant and central offices of telecommunications and cable companies. It also installs distribution piping for potable and re-use water systems for municipalities; and offers non-telecommunications engineering, construction, and installation services for other utilities. The Computer Systems segment provides telephone directory services, information services, and other operator services systems; and designs, develops, sells, leases, and maintains computer-based directory assistance services with other database management and related services, primarily to the telecommunications industry. This segment also offers third-party IT and data services to others. The Printing and Other segment provides printing services; and publishes yellow pages telephone directories. The company was founded in 1950 and is headquartered in New York, New York.
