It operates in two segments, Email Encryption and e-Prescribing. The Email Encryption segment offers comprehensive secure messaging services, which allow an enterprise to use policy-driven rules to determine which emails should be sent securely to comply with regulations or corporate policy. This segment also provides a comprehensive solution that analyzes and encrypts email communications, as well as related advisory, installation, customization, and training services. The e-Prescribing segment offers PocketScript, an electronic prescribing service that allows physicians to use a handheld device to prescribe drugs and transmit the prescription electronically to pharmacies. This segment distributes its e-Prescribing solution directly to physicians and healthcare institutions. The company was formerly known as ZixIt Corporation and changed its name to Zix Corporation in 2002. Zix Corporation was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
